This is the fertilization week! Once fertilization occurs post which the fertilized egg, now called a zygote, moves from your fallopian tube to your uterus. Thereafter it implants itself there. And thus begins a beautiful journey of growth and life.
Changes in Your Body at Week 2 Pregnancy
Week 1 of your pregnancy could have whizzed by you experiencing some early symptoms of pregnancy or without you even realizing that you are pregnant. But now is the time when you bid your periods goodbye for quite a few weeks. So would the results of the home pregnancy test kit too tell you.
Also 2 weeks of pregnancy is the week from when your uterus begins to grow in size to accommodate the baby.
Your Baby’s Development at Week 2 Pregnancy
At 2 weeks of pregnancy this is the week when the gender of your child gets decided. Because the embryo has all the 46 chromosomes that it needs for development, even if it is only 150 cells big. However, you won’t know until weeks later what your child’s gender is. During this time the foetus that is growing in your uterus has three layers.
Layer 1: The internal layer which becomes the digestive system and respiratory tract\
Layer 2: This becomes the baby’s bones, muscles, genitals and the excretory system
Layer 3: This becomes the brains, nervous system and the skin
Week 2 Pregnancy Tips and Advice
Buy yourself a home pregnancy test kit. This test will detect the presence of the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine. And a positive result means that you have conceived. You can plan for visiting a gynecologist to confirm the home pregnancy test during your third week of pregnancy.
At 2 weeks of pregnancy if you haven’t given up smoking and drinking then now’s the time to do so. And yes, the folic acid continues.

Week 2 Fun
Calculate what your due date could be. For this add seven days to the first day of your last period. Then subtract three months from that. Finally add a year. Yes, it is a little confusing, but that’s the way most doctors do it.
Start looking up baby names and find out which ones are popular currently.
