An infant’s complexion will change as she grows up.

There are a few home based products that you can use on your child’s supple skin to make it look healthier and better.

Do stay away from any harsh creams because the chemicals might affect the new born’s skin adversely.

Egg White

If your child is below 5 years you can try egg white massage for her body it improves colour and makes the skin soft and lively. If she is above 5 you can massage milk cream and turmeric this also improves colour and brings shine and glow to skin. Please don’t go for chemical products as that may harm her skin. – zainabsarfraz 

Turmeric

Apply cream with milk 2 tsp &1 tsp turmeric powder. Heat it and apply it in the body before bathing.- gsaikripa

Once the baby gains weight by 4th weight onwards your baby will be fair and cute. Use kasturi Turmeric powder + channa atta for baby bath after massage – Nijasav  

Massage Oil

Use olive oil to massage you child before bath. You can very well see the difference and glow when used twice a day. – ramyapradeep

If you keep your child well-nourished and properly moisturise her skin, your LO will glow with health in your care. After all, that’s all what we parents want finally. Use either olive oil or coconut oil and massage if your child will let you. Moisturise with mineral oil immediately after bath and don’t use Kadalai maavu, besan, chickpea powder etc, they dry out the skin and make it look lifeless and prone to skin diseases. – tikka

Gram Flour

Use gram flour (kadalai maavu) and badam both together made as powder. Use this instead of soap.It improves the complexion or maintains the fairness. – ramyapradeep

Instead of soap the skin can be washed with a mixture of besan ( about a tbsp), turmeric( 2-3 pinches) , sandal wood powder(a pinch )and milk/cream. Depending on the weather , one can apply a moisturiser or oil after bath. And yes, proper intake of water / fluids is important. –  muzna  

Cashew Paste

Ingredients :

  • 1 tbsp cashew nut paste 
  • 1 1/2 tbsp pista paste 
  • 1tbsp fresh malai ( skin of boiled milk )
  • 1 tbsp of wheat gram oil 
  • 1 tbsp of rose water 
  • 1/4 cup red lentil dal paste( masoor dal )
  •  chick flower ( to thicken)

Method: Grind all the mentioned nuts in a blender until powdered, then add the remaining ingredient .Once you get fine paste. Massage it in upward motion onto your babies face & leave it to dry for few minutes. Rinse with cold water. – deepplav

Vaseline Jelly

Apply Vaseline Petroleum Jelly in her body immediately after her bath. Repeat applying Vaseline whenever you see her skin getting dry or out of the glow may be 3 times a day. Vaseline is only thing you could get in India which is hypo allergic and fragrance free. Give her plenty of water to hydrate from inside her body as well. – Suprajak 

While all these remedies will help you, it is much better to concentrate on the baby’s health instead. Their complexion will automatically improve as they grow up.

Finally, do be careful with what you apply on her skin because many a product can have an allergic reaction on her body.
