My second nomination for the month is this helpful response by @Halosandwings
Do I Need To Trust My H ?

H&W's response is filled with wisdom that comes with first-hand experience and she has written so much in crisp sentences that state a short observation each but make one think a lot:
"tolerable state", "feels bad but not remorseful" ... many more such nuanced insights in the response. :worship2:

    :hello:
Many invariably start with: a friend of mine had this or is having such and such dispute or harassment from Mil DIL fil Bil etc and concoction of cocktails of queer emotions in stylish prose - readers drink and digest and those who have time as pastime forms this as hobby of answering such threads downloading their fiction from their head and - heart sometimes - making a delectable enjoyment for fellow IL’tes .

    But am happy with it.
Here it is super feedback response to a genuine thread of macabre issue and rightly deserves accolades and approbation from senior member of nomi committee
    God bless.

    Dear Cheeniya Sir,

I am here to nominate Smt. Jayasala's (@jayasala42) snippet Empire Of Imagination. To see and comprehend the big picture of the betterment of the society requires a lot of dream and visualization which the author nicely articulated in her short and sweet snippet. I am surprised that this snippet has no takers. This is an incredible piece of writing and I am going to write my response to this snippet today.

    Dear Cheeniya Sir,

I am here to nominate @Anjelin's poem titled "Lockdown Diaries" written in May 2020 Lockdown Diaries. What a delightful poem to read. Under the pretext of realization about pandemic, she shared an important lesson about how life should be conducted for right living.

Dear @Mistt and @hermitcrab - totally agree that co-members nominating posts itself is a great recognition and excitement. While this new process is in place to make sure there is a steady number of nominations coming in every month, community members should absolutely feel free to come in and share appreciations for the nominated posts if they are something of their liking too. That would also make the nominating committee members feel good about the nominations they brought in and of course keep the original contributor excited and motivated.

Thank you for supporting this change.

    Hi Induslady ma'am,
True, there were very few nominations and I didn't even nominate any post these past few months(whatever reasons). So, I absolutely agree with your decision.
Here, I feel a little disappointment. Sometimes, we like a post but must not be liked by nominating committee because tastes vary from person to person. Members lost the opportunity to express their own likes in nominating posts. Anyways, I support the change.

Interesting to read the thoughts about the new process that is being tried. "Officer's canteen/ foot soldiers.." was a simile that had me smiling at the uniqueness of the comparison. : ) Though, I'd like to tweak that a little bit... The change is like moving from hand-crafted custom-made gift to a carefully chosen store or mall's gift-card. Keeping with the times. Still the love, care, affection and admiration demonstrated though the gift is of a different type.

Truth be told, in the past I have been guilty and careless of not nominating posts even though I used to come across fine posts not yet nominated. Reason would be lame like I was reading IL without logging in, or I meant to do it "soon" and the "soon" melted into the last day of the month. Each time Cheeniya issued an appeal for nominations, I would resolve to do better... and then not follow the resolve. : ( Cheeniya's post would feel like a person standing outside an auditorium humbly with folded hands gently trying to persuade people to come in and appreciate a fine arts performance and encourage the performers.

I think this trying out a new format is a gutsy move. And a well-thought out one given what we know. There are ways in which it can be modified and improved which will hopefully emerge and present themselves in the next few weeks or months. As a starting point for a new process that ensures a certain number of nominations per month, we couldn't have done better. Rather than wringing hands over some spontaneity and variety allegedly lost but sticking with the old method, I like this more productive approach of trying out something new. Nothing is written or typed in stone. Maybe over time a new method will evolve or we will go back to the old method. What matters is that we would have given new methods a shot. And, hopefully we learn what happens when we don't participate.

I often don't agree with the admin decisions or policies (more about this October surprise at another time) but this new method is a good one and worthy of being given some time to prove itself either way.

I feel every right of the members comes with some responsibilities. IL Admin set up a separate forum for the members to nominate posts so that they can announce the finest post every month and it worked for years that way. Recently, due to whatever reason, the members didn't nominate posts despite many requests from Cheeniya Sir. The admin ended up changing the process and gave the responsibility to three independent nominators (three foot soldiers) who are ready and willing to nominate enough posts every month. That doesn't mean they are favorites of the admin or part of the officers' canteen. Everyone in the committee is fiercely independent, in my opinion, and each one of us has expressed our own views for or against all the time even if it differed among the committee members.

Honestly, I prefer the nomination rights to remain with all the members but they need to be willing to commit to nominating at least a few posts every month with or without such requests from the super moderator. Even now, I welcome suggestions from the members about what they find as interesting to nominate and as a committee member, I will review them and nominate. It will help me to nominate the right and deserving posts. We all know that none of us have all the time in the world to scan the entire IL site to find the best.

If the members overwhelmingly begin to write their favorite posts, I believe the admin will revert to the original system and I will be glad to step down as a committee member accepting the decision to go back to the original system.

Foot Soldiers Committee is actually a creative name! Or maybe Foot Soldiers Battalion.

The foot solider in me so honored and overwhelmed to be in the battalion at the same time as Viji and Viswa.

Dang! :pensive: Really? :openmouth: No chance?

True that! Remember that "Watson" you awarded me that I heartily disagreed with? Hint: Kind of rhymes with the Sanskrit for the season we are in. Autumn...

I was thinking maybe a hybrid version. You and Viji get to nominate 6 and are required to. You can be the foot soldiers. The rest of us can be paw soldiers with the usual 4 posts allowed each.

OK.. just a ramble, Viswa. Please to not dissect ... I just stopped by on my way to the Spirituality thread.
