Imagination is often defined as the act of power informing a mental image in your mind of anything not accessible to the senses. All great men have deep perception of things , and indulge in imagination
which becomes a guiding star for subsequent reality.

A man of literature indulges in lot of imagination, before
he produces something really worth while.Imagination is more beautiful than reality. The beautiful castle of one's dreams is definitely superb and charming. The beauty reflects the beauty of your mind, depth of your emotional power, strength of your aesthetic sense and brightness of your mood.

Great master pieces of poets like Wordsworth,Tennyson, Milton, and Shakespeare stand testimony to the clarity of their perception.taj, Ajantha, Ellora and many other temples of the South with elevated towers are instances of human imagination.Reality represents hardly a percentage of the images perceived!

Not only arts, but in the field of politics also,Mahathma Gandhi perceived the beauty of a free state which India should become. How to fight the military power of the British? Indians had no weapons. It was the moral strength inspired by ambition of freedom with which he mobilized millions of volunteers.

The Country' First PM Shri Nehru ,his initial blue prints were carved out of his imagination.

Not only in politics ,but imagination has contributed to the development of science and technology also.Scientists have been able to provide blue prints for many irrigation and agricultural projects which can match the largest ones in the world.

'Saahiya samaaj kaa darpan hai".Literature is the mirror of society. The fantasies of time become realities after a few generations.

The charm of life does not lie in reason and logic alone.Imaginations, sentiments and feelings are more charming than the reality.they are farthest from the cold philosophy.

Philosophy merely aims at knowing the intrinsic value of things in their naked form subject to rationality of research.it is desirable to have a balanced life-a mixture of serious and light activities.A bit of meditation, a bit of exercise, a bit of recreation will be a beautiful admixture.

The so called Macaulay's system of education has cut us off from the ancient roots of culture and tradition
ever since the beginning of British Rule..The situation
can be corrected only with the stress on imagination, emotion and spiritual delicacy which continue to thrive in the hearts of Indians, though lying dormant at the present.

    Dear Smt. Jayasala:

What an incredible snippet this is and I am surprised no one responded to this snippet. Everything from modern civilization to art and literature to scientific inventions to the construction of holy places, etc. were created from the visualization of people. You have already mentioned many such examples in your snippet. A few other that comes to my mind is the ruins of Pompeii that still visible in Rome after the effects of Lava that flew from the Mount Vesuvius, the beautiful Angkor Wat built in Combodia by King Suryavarman, the Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal built in 17th century, Eiffel Tower in Paris and Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

We can't forget that Kennedy stood before Congress on May 25, 1961, and proposed that the US "should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth." Dreaming and visualizing is one thing but executing it precisely as per visualization is another uphill task. I concede visualization is the first step in making the world better but executing is equally important.

No doubt. Imagination, in positive sense, has been a boon to society. It is true in all fields of art, science, culture, politics and so on.
Imagination and ability of observation run side by side. Sahitya smaj ka darpan hai (Literature is the mirror of the society) but it requires a very keen observing power. It is equally true about other fields also.

:hello:Kudos to madam sister @jayasala42 for your great thought on imagination and to wove a short essay encompassing entire gamut of economic & social activities is fantastic task.

You had rightly pointed out that advances in civilisation has been brought about only by imagination of few who could use it to create new objects devices services and provide better and clear picturesque world for mankind.

Gulliver in Lilliput & Gulliver in Brobdingnag - characters in Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels comes to mind. Then The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha or just Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes comes to mind. At school or college these two were my non details and I relished reading - rather studying- these two novels were great fragments of imagination humour and satire. These two political satire and whatever conceived in these two those ideas were the vanguard of happiness for future political success and development democracy in Great Britain.

I shudder to Imagine a world without imaginations. World bereft imagination would be a rotting vegetable.

Imagination is important for the advancement of humankind. Without imagination, people stagnate — both as individuals and as a society.

Disney land is an example of imagination frolic but scientists derived great ideas to imagine further scientific advancements and creation of newer machines of convenience and comfort for production and services.

The Wright Brothers' dream of inventing a flying machine had come true. It all started when Orville was 7 and Wilbur was 11 years old. Their father, Bishop Milton Wright, gave them a toy helicopter. They as optimists succeeded their visualisation to the execution.
But then a pessimist imagined in case craft gives trouble there must be an escape for crew and others. He imagined visualised and invented the parachute.

For one to arrive at a feeling of Compassion and empathy for fellow beings affected in disaster like quakes or train accidents like air disaster or ship wreckage imagination is a must.

    • I am glad that my pal @Viswamitra had observed the best of this snippet of imagination and deservedly nominated as a great and best narration for the ongoing month.

    Thanks and Regards.

God blesseth the mankind with imagination in creation

No wonder only men respond to this thread.
There is plenty of imagination on this forum. When someone posts with a preamble "I have this friend... who has a problem..." what is concocted after that could be sheer imagination -- someone would point that out soon enough. Jayasala42 should visit the subforums on this site and enjoy.

    Dear Viswa,
Thank you for your wonderful response.Somehow I could relate every activity of ours with some fantasy.Sometimes when our imaginations become a reality, our joys knows no bounds.
    Thank you Viswa.

'Sahitya samaaj kaa darpan' was the oft repeated essay asked for in higher exams in Hindi.
Naturally when we say'Samaaj' it involves so many aspects.Imagination does not stop with day dreaming. There is essentially an intellectual side to the imaginations.

    Dear Shri Thyagarajan Sir,
You have added so many flowery branches to the snippet and made it enchanting.
Very true.Disney Land is a world of imaginations and in the literary world of Gulliver's Travels fantasy reigns supreme. All advancements in Science get related to higher level of imaginations and we have studied that even while arriving at the structure of Benzene , scientists uploaded lot of hypothetical fantasies to work it out.Do you think that without his imagination Newton would have thought of Gravitational force ?

:hello:How I wish I had quoted that two snakes trying to swallow each other appeared in dream-imagination lead to the discovery of structural formula and that why and how of Newton’s imagination lead to axioms in dynamics of motion!

Sir Pitman Issac too was wild in his imagination in developing short strokes and dots for sound so that speeches could be written down as it were being uttered.

Hats off to madam sister remembering and quoting here the acme of very wild and great imaginations.

    • An interesting fact Is August Kekule a German chemist's somnolent vision of snakes biting tail of the other in a dream that supposedly revealed true structure of the benzene ring …
    • Albert Eisenstein too was quite wild in his imagination that lead to wonderful theories of expanding universe, increase in finite mass of the object as it travels with velocity comparable to that of Light*
*The relativistic mass is the sum total quantity of energy in a body or system (divided by c2).

    Thanks and Regards.

God bless all with positive imagination.
