    Hi Srama,

    Thanks for the detailed explanation. I also wanted to discuss 6th step with you.I find it difficult to hold my tummy (meaning not touching the ground while keeping just the chest,knees and chin to the floor). Any tips to make this easy?

    Regarding 108 SNs, my understanding is doing it 9 times (9 *12 = 108) because doing 108 will be too strenous in one day and not sure if anyone does it because the joints might ache.

    In this article, it mentions counting 108 by using 9 pumpkins -
    108 SUN SALUTATIONS

    Srama, please also enlighten us on 108 count.

    I have gone through the article which you have provided, I enjoyed reading it, such a nice article.

    Regarding the pumpkin example, the author said it is 9 sets of 12 Surya Namaskar's. I think you are considering this 12 as 12 aasanas which are in 1 SN. Seems that's the reason for the confusion.

    Doing 108 SNs is really a strenuous Job, Starters like us cannot do it from the very begining, It needs lot of stamina, that's the reason I gave 1 year time for myself to achieve this. And Yes there are many people who do 108 SNs with much ease, I know few Ilites also succeeded in doing 108 SNs. Thats the reason you see many yogathon events doing 108 Surya Namaskars.

    @pman16, sorry about the delay in getting back. Swasha's explanation makes sense. Yes most yogathons consider 108 SN as 108 and I think that is the goal of @Swasha. SO 54 rt + 54 Lt is the goal for this thread.

    But if you wish you can consider every step as an asana and you can actually work as asana by holding the breath long enough and transitioning into the the next step. This way, perhaps 10 SN will take 20mins and you can increase that time frame as well. Each step by itself is definitely an asana, has a name and hence the encouragement to do at least SNs every day.
