    Radha,

I just started this diet, I eat mung dal chiles (like dosa) for each meal. You can eat it instead of other grains/fours with sambhar, chutney etc.

Sprouts and nuts for snacks seem to work out well.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Smartgrl,

i just referenced Book for your query.Actually Millets(ragi) comes under the Grains/cereal section, which is not allowed on first phase.and its Glycemic Index is also way greater than braley, rice etc.so don take in this for phase 1 anyways, you can try on any tomato drink or V8 Vegetable with breakfast .

i have put a link in a post before, you could find vegetarian Recipes in there.

ALL the BEst Smartgrl, just 2 weeks, and then you will never know you are dieting....Wish YOU LUck!

4 down 11 to go in phase 1.

Yesterday I overdid the dried nuts at work. I realized that I tend to overeat at work out of boredom. Also drank decaf coffee with artificial sweetener. It tasted like straw. My morning chai with skim milk and artificial sweetener on the other hand is not too bad.

    breakfast mung dal chile
snack chana sundal+ some dried nuts
    lunch chile again
snack beans curry+ some dried nuts
evening had tea with a sundal
    dinner chile with squash dal

Doing the diet when one also has to cook for family is a bit challenging as we have to plan the menus so that the rest do not find much of a difference.

Overall not to bad and I do not feel hungry. Anyways still have 11 more days to go.

    ------------

Update: I just realized that I made a mistake and added banana squash to the dal for dinner and a bit for lunch today. Banana squash is a winter squash and was not explicitly called out on the SB phase 1 list.

Check out wiki page for list of all squashes grouped under winter squash.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_squash

Essentially banana squash is not allowed in phase 1.

Moon dal chile is dosa made out of moon dal.
soak 1 cup mung dal + 1/2 cup urad dal + 1/3 cup chanal dal
grind with ginger, hing and chillies and make like regular dosa.

You can make lentil soup in phase 1.

Got a bit irritable on day 5. I am not sure if it was a side effect of the diet. However a nap made it better.

    snack 1: cooked cauliflower
    lunch lentil+veggie soup and chile
    snack 2: 1/4 cup walnuts+almonds
1 cup tea with skim milk and artificial sweetner
    snack 3: 3/4 cup lobhia
dinner: mung dal chile with sambhar and eggplant curry
