    Hi Sindhuja
just saw the link and other posts. thanks for sharing all this information about the 'lucky bamboo', which at first i thought it to be an ordinary indoor plant.
i have seen it sold in the mall and other shopping areas too and heard its maintenance is easy. i dont get time to visit all threads and each section everyday so when i do visit it looks like too much i have missed. thanks.

    hi
earlier i saw this thread but never read completly.
yesterday when we r returning home we thought to buy a plant on behalf of our marraige day.so luckily at the last minute of closing time we went to home depot & there we find this plant looking cute (also remind me this thread) & so brought the smaller one.
I never saw this plant earlier so i am confused whether to change the pot or not.then why would he sell in decorative pot.
can anyone suggest me is it ok with this pot or have to change them into bigger one
also by removing the plant, gravels & replacing with new water wouldn't effect the plant?
    thanks
    here is my lucky bamboo

    Congrats on wedding day.
Very nice looking plant and container too. DId it come with any instructions? Why should you change pot? I did not understand question. Normally they can be left in pot for a while.

    Hi Mythili,

    Here are few tips:
    1. You can change the pot to a bigger one, if you like so.
    2. You may have to change the water every 3-4 days to keep the plant healthy.
    3. While changing water, you can clean the pot too by removing the plants, gravels etc. It will not harm the plant.
    4. Bamboo plant can survive upto 2 weeks without water.
    5. Add room tempature water to the plant. (Plant won't survive with very cold water or warm water). It is better to use filter water to the plant.
    6. Please don't keep the plant under direct sunlight.
    7. In case of any one root dies, please replace/throw the root. (it might cause problems with the family…this is the chinese belief and my experience too).

Let me know if you need any more information.

    Regards.

    hi
    thanks chitra.
actually i have no idea how a bamboo plant grows & how much length their roots will grow.I thought that their roots grow like a normal plant & so confused whether to change them into a bigger pot or not.later i came to know that it has thin & short roots, also it can grow in both soil & water.

    hi puni
thanks a lot for ur tips.
also can i use colorful stones (used in the flowervases) which we find in walmart instead of these gravels
    regards
