    Tips for silver jewelry

    Step 1
Line the glass pan with aluminum foil.

    Step 2
Heat a pot of water to boiling on the stove.

    Step 3
Sprinkle the aluminum foil with a generous amount of baking soda.

    Step 4
Place the jewelry on top of the aluminum foil.

    Step 5
Pour boiling water on top of the jewelry, completely covering it. Shake the pan slightly and allow the jewelry to sit in the pan for five minutes.

    Step 6
Remove the jewelry with tongs. Rinse it under cool water and dry with a towel.

I have tried this for cleaning silver puja items and it worked wonderfully.
but, a small change to make it easier - I just filled a plastic bowl with hot water from the sink tap then added foil and 2 tbps each of table salt and baking soda and soaked the silver puja items.... no scrubbing....nothing it comes out clean and clear like new silver items...
however , my DH told me that It shouldnt be done often as it may have effect the total weight of the silverware. so, I do it once in 3 months or so
