How often do you vacuum and steam clean your carpets?

Hi Friends,

I was wondering how often should one vacuum and steam clean carpets.
Since most living spaces are sealed and there is hardly any ventilation, carpets can be breeding ground for all kinds of organisms.

Any advise or experiences?

It depends on whether you have kids .For me i do the ordinary vacuum once in 3 days or 5 days depending on what my daughter spills .

Steam vaccum i do once in 6 months.

I do vaccum once in a week.We are family of 2.The ones who have kids will do frequently may be once in 3 days.My cousin said that she will be using carpet foam while vaccuming.
