    forgot to wear mine yesterday. Today's one hour Zumba fitness routine burned 562 cals. I was within range for HR the entire time. Wish I knew yesterday's. I did 1:40 of Zumba toning and I never exceed an hour.

    Hi Laks09,

    Your workouts sound great and I never realized that one can lose so many calories in Zumba...I want to do only cardio for 20 days more as cardio helps to lose weight faster also i am used to it..I am going to do one of the @home workouts tomm. and will post the details...I read banned from the forum under the user id of IG...may be thats the reason?!

    when you say within range of HR how do you check this? does yours give a beep when you reach the maximum HR? where does your HR stay during Zumba? (range)

    Zumba is a whole lot of cardio. I used to burn upwards of 600 cals. I had to take a break from working out for about 4 weeks. That's why the reduction in burn. I'm going to start doing strength training again soon. Zumba alone will not tone me up. Wow, Ig banned. But even so the posts remain. Maybe some new rule where the posts are also deleted.

    I look at the stats at the end of every workout. It gives the avg HR. The monitor also beeps if you go over or below the range. It's the main reason I bought the gadget to check the HR. I use ft4s pre set range for my stats and seem to be doing fine, not going over. You can look online for optimal heart rate range for your age ht and wt.

    Today's workout stats -
    zumba - 60'mins
    cals burned - 536
    HR Average - 146
    HR Max-162
    HR in zone - 50 mins. (120-156)

    Took me a looong time to bring that avg hr down to 146 while doing a full blown cardio.

    I am on vacation till 22nd hence the only exercise i am getting is walking miles and miles!!

    The fat burning HR changes for me everytime depending on the max heart rate in my last workout...the below thread shows how to calculate the max heart rate

    Calculate your Maximum Heart Rate by Age

    but it looks the formula in the link does not technically give my max heart rate..My max. hr was 180 till now a/c to my FT7 and i think i could have gone beyond that...so may be its an estimation...max heart rate is also used to determine the fat burning zone(60-70% of max. hr) and fitness zones(above 70%)...btw is that what you meant when you said HR in zone?

    Hope you are having a fun vacation!
    Regarding HR my trainer found the magic numbers 120-160 and asked me to stay within and avg around 145 for regular workouts. I have no clue how she found the magic numbers. I'll ask her next time we meet.
    Monday - 2hrs Zumba toning and Zumba regular - 890 cals
    Today - 50 mins Zumba regular - 460 cals
