Try petrol wash. It gets rid of grease stains easily.

Take some petrol in a small bowl. Pour it where the grease stains are and rub gently. You can see the stain dissolving. Once all the stains are gone, rinse it in water and wash it in detergent.

On a fresh oil or grease stain, dab on some talcum powder and leave for a while. You will notice that the powder has absorbed the grease and becomes a cake kind of layer and comes off easily. If there is still a little bit grease left, then just rub some soda-bicarb on that area and wash off as you would normally.

Does the process take care of the color and texture of the clothes?

    Dear Monica....

Baking soda's ability to absorb, and also its alkaline pH, help it to absorb and remove stains caused by oil and grease. You can dissolve it in water and then apply it on the cloth.

Thanks for the kind information. It's definitely going to help me.Is there any other ready made product? I heard about vanish, they say it is quite effective on stains. What do you suggest?

    Hi Monica....

Vanish is good as well for simple stains. Sometime back, one of my light-coloured pants got stained by another fabric's colour and dear me....it was a stubborn stain. I first soaked in lots of Vanish and soap water overnite. The stain got lighter and after a couple of washes now, its almost gone. I think Vanish will work on grease/oil stains if you do something immediatly.

Nevertheless, I still follow my Mom's tip of dabbing talc on the oil stain immediatly!!!

I think so, rather the detergents and other normal products which claim that they are perfect detergents for all purpose spoil the clothes. One should rather go for home remedies.
