    Let me start with bread:

I never knew this..... When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
    Monday - Blue
    Tuesday - Green
    Thursday - Red
    Friday - White
    Saturday - Yellow
So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie - not white which is Friday's (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday thru Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the one with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new everyday!!! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

That's nice Rajam. I had also noticed different colours but had not connected it till now. Actually a date will be there in the packet. So I usually look for that only. :bangcomp:

Have you any short cut for the milk packets too ? Except for the dates??
If anyone knows any other tips like this let us know??

Thanks to all of you. Actually this was given to me by a friend's husband who runs a bakery. I am used to get only bakery breads from him, but as people ask he also stocks bread of different other companies too. He was returning a whole lot of close to 10 pkts of bread to the supplier and he gave me this detail. Let me pass on all your thanks to him.

    Hello Lathaji,
I am also wondering how to find the freshness of milk apart from the date. I had problems with milk packets of the current date too and when asked the supplier he either blames our fridge or the temperature :bang Yes if someone could suggest the ways to check the packets it will be much helpful.

Sent to me by a friend so thought of sharing it.

Have U ever heard about LPG gas cylinder's expire date.

How to find LPG cylinder's expiry date?

    Very important information.

Most of us do not know this.

Do you know that there is an expiry date (physical life) for LPG cylinders?
Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the Vendor.
Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:

On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha numerically as follows:

A or B or C or D and some two digit number following
    this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -
    A for March (First Qtr),
    B for June (Second Qtr),
C for Sept (Third Qtr), &
    D for December (Fourth Qtr).
The digits stand for the year till it is valid.
Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.

Share this message with everyone you know, your kind cooperation will save the life of many people and create awareness among the public.

    Dear Rajmi

Really I was wondered to know the expiry date of LPG cylinders. Thank you very much for such an useful information. After reading your post, I immediately checked my cylinder and it is D07, so nothing to worry.

BYW, do you know what is the physical life of a cylinder after once it is filled i.e. how many months. Just with curiosity only I am asking this.

    Love
    Varudhini
