    hello Ruhi,

I prefer cooking fresh every time.So no idea about the tricks you mentioned.

I do follow few tips .Let me give them

1.I will grind red chillie powder and salt in mixer in 1:2 ratio along with cumin seeds and store it.I will use this for potato and all other fries.

    2. Ginger, garlic paste also i wll prepare before hand and refrigrate it.
If i am preparing biryani i will prepare fresh for the nice smell.

3.Cut veggies during night for next day preparation and will refrigeration .If i have to cook early or fast.

4.Prepare upma with left over idlies during evenings as snack.

Will add more. Trying to recollect :)

    Hi,
While preparing ginger/garlic paste add salt or vinger so that you can store it more than 10 days. If you keep in freeze you can store it for 20 days.

    Dear Ruhi,
I too cook dhals and freeze it, however under ayurvedic style of preparation it is not good to do so because the life force of the food is gone. But i have no choice because i am working.

I too peel garlice and onions and keep

I grind chillies (red) and keep in the fridge

I make soup base (grind the spinach) and freeze,so that i can cream of spinach soup.

But if you have time ,use fresh ingredients and cook. But it is good idea to prepare for the nextdays cooking

    Jaya

Ruhi, this is what i do. I spend some time on weekends planning meals for the coming week. I plan atleast 3 meals for weeknights and one meal on Sunday night as hubby takes lunch to work. Then I go grocery shopping, and spend an hour or so chopping veggies and bagging them in small ziploc bags. I also boil the dal sometimes and leave it in the fridge. But I don't do ginger-garlic paste etc. as I like to do them fresh, but planning meals and having ready made chopped veggies to cook cuts down on a lot of time on week days.
