Remove odor from reusable glass bottles and lids

Hi,

I want to reuse glass bottles/jars such as salsa bottles, pickle bottles, etc.
I manage to clean them pretty well. But, the metal lids do not clean properly.

Also, please let me know how to remove food odors from these glass bottles and their jars before I reuse them?

May be filling them with some hot water and baking soda might help - that is all I can come up with! Hope you get more suggestions.

adding lemon to water and using it for cleaning removes odur:thumbsup

After drying the bottle/container , stuff it with crumpled news paper and close it with the lid.Leave it for a day.This method works for plastic ones too.Try and let me know.

Vinegar and baking soda made into a paste and applied to the lids.as the lids carry most of the odor..if possible removing the inner packing inside the lid..the plastic type one..

and also adding the same mixture and water and leaving it overnight...warm/hot water will be more effective.

later you can add a spoon of sugar and hot water and the bottle comes out squeaky clean of odors..
