Reached 108 Surya Namaskars This Morning!

    Finally reached 108 Surya Namaskars this morning.

    Was planning on 90 but my body wanted to do more.

    Was hoping to get to 108 on my Birthday, but I guess. this was early birthday present from God Almighty!

    Took about an hour, and it was well spent!


    I learned about Surya Namaskar from IL last year (I think it was finest post, or free ebook, something like that)

    Bravo to this forum and the wonderful people who share their expertise!

    Chennai Express you do seem to be like the Express. Chugging on but not tired!. Kudos to you. It has struck me now that this might be the best exercise in the morning if not anything.

    This is a wonderful execise.

    Start with 3 per day. After 2 weeks increase another 3.

    Listen to your body.

    There are times you will want to do more, go ahead. At least stick with those repetitions for 2 weeks before increasing.

    Also do other exercise such bike, weights.


    If possible (and I learned this after reaching 108) do 5 min dynamic stretches BEFORE Surya Namaskar. It makes your movements more fluid.

    And I holy recommend Ujjain breathing technique while during Surya Namaskar. It improves you concentration and movements.

    And be sure to take at least one rest day --- perform dynamic stretches to open up joints ... plus you might actually enjoy it!
