    Thanks Shans. I will try it. Not sure what we get here ix china cholam. What we get here is the one that is used for popping.

    My next thread to read from beginning is thhis one as it has lot of wealth in the form of knowledge.

    been a busy weekend and few days.. and it is so hot.. loading up on barley water with lemon, buttermilk and watermelon juices.. nothing helps

    should get back to groove soon..

    Was told when young not to eat the white of water-melon because 'it will upset your stomach'. After reading many posts about using the white part, made this veg today. Very slight bitter taste but good. Glad not to waste it.

    @satchitananda join the band wagon. couple of days back an old ilite visited with her husband and dd was recounting how amma will sneak so much. even watermelon rind.

    the chutney they assumed was tomato chutney until they grew smarter.


    if prepared well poricha kootu (the traiditonal one), mor kuzhambu (after steaming the cubes well), chutney all taste great. even your tambuli tastes yum with this.. it has been popular in this thread for quite some years..

    peel a little more of the outer skin ans there will be no bitterness..

    when plantain rind sabji is so yum why not this..and when it is full of minerals..

    How do you make watermelon rind dosai? I just checked out an older post. You had mentioned samai soaked with 1/2 tblsp methi and 1 tblsp brown rice. So I assume you used udad dal too and ground these with watermelon rind and added jeera and green chillies? Would like to try that out too.

    yes you can try with regular rice too.
    i added just a tblsp of urad dal and sometimes you dont need urad too.

    we make ash gourd and lauki dosa when the middle part is real tender. ashgourd udad vadis are made for frys and sambhar consumptiond..
