Lavanya, I have always used the regular cooker, keeping lesser water than normal and it has always turned out well. BTW, have you found that cooker?

Here in usa, I use aroma rice cooker ..i bought it from Costco and it has a brown rice setting..makes perfect brown rice everytime. I used the regular panasonic before that and have tried different methods like stove top, pressure cooker etc..but Aroma is simply the best. The brown rice i am talking about is the US brown rice..not the indian boiled/red/ukda rice.
For the indian boiled rice..the best method is to cook in a pressure cooker with lots of water and drain the water.

HI Kiya , I also made a mistake of buying aroma from walmart. It's nothing better to B&D.
I think the one in costco is the best. I missed buying that.

Anyone had luck cooking Indian brown rice (parboiled often called Kerala rice or matta rice) in electric or thermal cooker, in US? If yes, please help me with the brand name. I read very good reviews abt Zojirushi, but its very expensive. Not sure if its good for cooking kerala rice. Any thermal cookers?
