    Dear All,
I am sure most of are tired of and tormented by this nocturnal being. Their sight in the kitchen is irritating.
I request for some herbal measures to get rid of cockroaches. I tried Boric acid powder mixed with atta.Yes this measures works, but is not a foolproof solution.

I find the little ones hiding behind the shutters of kitchen drawers, inside grinder etc., .I am not in for pest control ,simply for the reason that they use chemicals.
    Please post some herbal ideas.....

    Regards,
    Sindhu

Hi, There are cockroach pencils [Chalks]. You can buy them in any grocery store in India. They look like lipstick in shape. Before going to bed, just draw lines adjacent to the walls and wherever you think there are too many of them. That night make sure nobody sleeps on the floor. This chalk is really effective. Next day 80% of cockroaches will be found dead. If you use it regularly within 2-3 weeks max all the big cockroaches will be dead. Then continue the same to trap the small ones. I am sure you will kill 'em all.

We had cockroach problem, and this chalkpiece helped a lot. Again I stress, Make sure nobody sleeps on floor that night.

    Hello ladies.

I too faced the problem in my home a while ago but I did manage to get rid of them for good.
The best thing that worked for me is Boric acid.

Sindhu, am not sure how you mixed it. But try this:
    1 sp boric acid powder + 1 sp atta + 1/2 sp sugar + 1 sp oil + a spoon or 2 of water.
The dough should be the same as what you make for roti. Make small balls and place in all nooks and corners.

Only thing to remember is that these balls will dry out with time. The concept is, the roaches eat them and the boric acid dehydrates and kills them. You should place them in all nooks and crannies. Paste it on walls or ceilings if you have kids in the house, it can help keep the poison out of their reach.

Once dry, take them off and make a new batch. Its the same as putting out fresh food for them to be attracted to it. It might not have worked if there were new colonies of roaches living some place outside your own home. So try placing a few of these balls near window sills and drop a few inside drain holes. Throw a few into your loft, behind cupboards or any place where you might find a colony.

This is not an instant solution though. Anyway, when it comes to roaches, instant solutions don't last. So to keep them away, you'll have to keep repeating the procedure every few months.

    Hope this helps.

PS. Air out the dark spots in your house as often as possible. They seem to be attracted to dark, cold adn dingy places..so the less of those, less you'll see of these creepy crawlers.

This is the best idea Tanoshi. Worked for me too.

Nowadays you also get the herbal cockroach killers in grocery stores too. It is like a green paste and you need to make small balls out of it and keep it in the nooks and corners. Within few days, you will not find a single cockroach.

To ensure that you dont see the menace again, repeat this every month. You will get rid of them for good.
