    “Udara vairagyavidu namma<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
    Padumanabhanalli lesa bhakuti illa…”

English translation of the song will be as below:

“Worthless asceticism it is (they have)
No devotion at all towards our ‘lotus-in-naval’ Lord
Waking up in early morning hours shivering
Taking a dip in the river with proud feeling
Hiding in heart vanity, cruelty and enmity fully
Casting wonder on people around deceitfully
From the hearth of bronze smith’s foundry
Obtaining idols of Gods of bronze and brass
Anointing them to show off with costly perfumery
Performing grand pujas in utter hoax
Rosary in the hand mouthful of chants profound
Wearing a mask of scholarship in countenance
Stealthily relishing the beauty of women around
Presenting a picture of a saint of pretence
Showing high devotion thus in deceit
As if there is none other in close pursuit
Like an actress putting up a false show
For the sake of livelihood without inner glow
Leave this possessiveness and self pride
Seek friendship of real saints and seers
Believe silently that it is all the will of God
Any other manner not thinking of Purandara Vittala
(Will be worthless asceticism it is…)
