    Hi,
thanks for sharing your thoughts here. It was a nice decision taken by you to quit job for the sake of your kids. Whether our kids are for us or not during our old age, we should be there for them when they are young because they are so helpless at the time and also they are into this world at our calling, to give us joy.
    Love,
    malathi

    Dear MJ,

Nice poem... How true... in search of materialistic success, we lose the love and warmth of our kids... We get so engrossed in our success that we forget they need our time and attention more than our gifts snd presents...

Reading the exchange of FB's... PS & you... made my eyes wet... If only all kids and parents had this love and understanding.... PS, you should be proud... and my salutes and :bowdown:bowdown:bowdown:bowdown to the great Mom...

    Enjoyed...

    Dear Malathi,
Sorry for my late entry . A touching poem -an eye-opener too ! When the little ones are longing for affection , its atrocious that their mothers go for a job ( for their own pleasure ). Only those who are in need can go for that option . Otherwise they should not even dream of going for a job , neglecting their duties as a mother & a wife . Is there any really more lovable thing in the world than seeing the happy faces of our children ?
Nice blog , Malathi ! :thumbsup
    Love,
    Indhu.

    Dear Malathi

I also feel that those who can afford to stay at home should stay
and look after their kids as till the age of 5 yrs the child needs the
attention of the mother and those days cant be brought back again.
Not that after 5 years they dont require the mother , a child wants
    the mother always.

Since I was a working mother I know how the children used to
miss me. Since it was a necessity for me to work I worked.
Otherwise it woudl have been difficult to get my two daughters
married. But we had one consolation my husband had Wednesdays
off and I had Saturday and Sunday Off. He used to go by 7 a.m.
in the morning and return by 4 p.m. in the evening . He never used
to wait once the office is over and come running to see his
children. I used to go by 7.30 a.m. and come back by 7 in the
evening. Evenings he used to bring our children to the station
and we used to come back together home.

Those days when I was working I used to leave my children
with our servant . So always used to get worried. We never
had phone also in our house that time. So sometimes used to
phone our neighbour and find out about the chidlren.

My niece did engineering she could not get proper seat anywhere
and got it in Nasik , when they were staying in Lucknow and later
did MBA also but could work only for a year or two asby the
time she got married and in the 2nd year she had a child. After
the child was born her mother in law told her not to work as
noone was there to look after the child. She also agreed and
after studying so much now she is at home looking after the
    child.

    Sorry for the long note.

    with love

    viji

    Dear Indhu,
You need not apologise or feel sorry! It is an old poem of mine and thanks to one of OUR NEW ILITES, IT IS UP ON A FRESH PAGE AGAIN! aS YOU RIGHTLY SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WHEN WOMEN ARE FORCED TO WORK TO KEEP THE KITCHEN FIRE BURNING. BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF FACTORS THAT NEED TO BE CONSIDERED BEFORE GOING ALL OUT TO CRITICISE WORKING WOMEN. tHAT IS WHY AT THE START OF THE POEM ITSELF I HAVE STATED THAT IT IS NOT TO OFFEND ANYBODY. EVEN RECENTLY MY SON AND SELF WERE DISCUSSING ABOUT THIS ISSUE!
THANKS FOR SPARING TIME AND LEAVING YOUR VALUABLE FB.
    LOVE,
    MALATHI

    Dear viji,
thanks for the lovely long fb. You have shared your genuine feelings of a working woman. Even my mother worked for the same reason as yours. And because of her sacrifices, we kids are doing well today. She had shift duties too and during her morning and night shifts she used to forgo a lot of her sleep so that she could cook food and keep it ready for us before she left for work. My poem at the outset has given exception to genuine cases! I am sure your kids too would know the worth of all your sacrifices.
    Love,
    malathi

    Dear Malathi
Very apt point of the times...
i am sure i am with you as i am a young mother and gave up my career as a lecturer to take care of the apple of my eye... and i can vouch that it is paying rich dividends to both me as a person and our family as a unit.
Thank you for bringing this up in the forum.
Hope to hear more from u.
