Every day top executives of Tata Motors used to take lunch together but from some days, Sumant Moolgaokar used to take his car and go out during Lunch Hours and come back as soon as the Lunch Break was over.

There was a grapevine that he is offered lunch at a Five Star Hotel by some dealers of Tata.

One day when some executives followed him during Lunch Break, they were surprised to see that he stopped his car at one Highway Dhaba, ordered food for him and sat with the drivers of trucks who were eating food at that dhaba.

He discussed with them what was good and what was bad in a Tata Truck, jotted down and came back to his office.

He used to improve upon the experiences of drivers. Such was Sumant Moolgaokar's zeal for improving the Tata Vehicles.

"Tata Sumo" is the biggest corporate tribute paid by any company to it's executive. Su stands for Sumant and Mo stands for Moolgaokar in this brand name.

Today is the death anniversary of Sumant Moolgaokar.
    My Sincere Tributes to
    Remarkable of Sumant Moolgaonkar.
But more kudos to Tatas for appreciation and honour they bestowed on him.

Didn't know this. Always thought Sumo is for those Japanese wrestlers.

Jam' N. Tata, the founder-patriarch of the industrial family may have considered JaTa, meaning the "hairy guy" for the name of that company... but pitching for Brand Marketing was weak in those days.

In south of Tamil Nadu Jata
(Muneeswarar) has remained one among our traditional pantheons of Gods. He is depicted as a strong, courageous, aggressive, and majestic divinity and remains essentially a guardian deity. This well-built God is considered a protector and savior and was regarded in earlier times as being so mighty as to protect an entire village and the people living therein from thieves and dacoits and also from natural calamities like storms and torrential rains.

In all those adjectives, I don't see HAIRY or hirsute. Why is that ?
Somehow a bald fellow as a super-powered thing doesn't carry a lot of weight with the god-fearing public. Why couldn't a bald one be a god ? The Greeks who believed in god-apparitions didn't quite go for bald heros either. The best they could do was to let some with large foreheads get by without too much inspection. The Hindu's squeaked by this problem by creating many godesses, and female pattern baldness is hidden for a longer time than male pattern baldness. To think that our whole worship thing was based on HAIR should startle all the faithful.
