Dear Ladies, This is one of the most beautiful poems written by Rabindranath Tagore. I want to share it with you. Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high Where knowledge is free Where the world has not been broken up into fragments By narrow domestic walls Where words come out from the depth of truth Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit Where the mind is led forward by thee Into ever-widening thought and action Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake
Dear TDU, You brought back memories of my schools days where this peom used to be our morning prayer and I will teach my kids this prayer now. Along with that, other school time memories are also flooding back and today my day will fly . Thanks for reviving andhanaalin iniya nyabagangal. Thanks once again.
Dear TDU, wonderful words, wonderful meaning, wonderful poem. I think everyone of us are hoping to experience that heaven of freedom all the time. but the way things are, it's better not to hope and get disappointed; still can't help praying. Regards,

Sudha, I have been brought up in Bangalore and this prayer was part of our morning prayer in Bangalore Education Society, Malleswaram. I was in this school from 1975 - 1977. Do you know me?
Hi Chitra, I was in Chennai/mysore in that period, though i too studied in b'lore also, it was a convent in Malleswaram only, ...i forget the name now. But i know your school.....did u go to MES college subsequently because i was there in 78 , 79 , for PUC, then shifted to Mounts......But i think it was in this convent , that we sang this prayer, cos after that i was in Chennai, and i know we did not sing this there! Do u still visit B'lore?
Hi sudha, Maybe you were in Cluny Convent. My early years were in East West School near Gandhibazaar and I did study in MES but from 80 -84 for my PUC and Graduation via MLA school. The internet does bring the world closer. Dont you think so?
