As Akshaya Tritiya is approaching soon, I thought I will start this topic. Where do you guys usually buy gold jewellery? And where do you shop for diamonds? Long ago GRT used to be good for gold. However, its quality has gone down the drain. The stems of gold earrings are so weak that it bends in a few uses. This time both the gold earrings that were purchased did not screw in properly. These are brand new ones that now need to be given back . For diamonds, I am partial to Bapalal because of their legacy and quality of stones, even if they offer fewer choices than other diamond jewelers.
My family has always gone to Vummidi Bangaru Chetty in Spencer Plaza, and occasionally to Mehta Jewellers in Alwarpet. In Bangalore the go-to shop is Krishnaiah Chetty.
