    Is by-heart absoluely Indian? I think its use as a verb is indian, as the English usage is "to learn by heart"

    To by heart and reproduce??? Is that what you have in mind?

    @Rihana "quiz"?
    "I had by-hearted the examples of family/genus/species for the biology exam and was asking a friend to quiz me so I can decide whether I need to revise."

    No, not 'quiz' also. This is beginning to feel like Rumpelstiltskin. : )

    It is two letter term if my faint memory of it is right, and the first part is 'take'

    I have by-hearted the signatures of IL members yaa, can you take [up]?

    :)

    Can't think of an Indianism along those lines. Take revision?

    I don't know the word, but it made me think of the Indian 'imposition'.
    Writing imposition as a punishment.. boo.. no good memories of that.

    Every time I see this page pop up on the "New Posts," I click eagerly hoping someone has finally solved @Rihana's puzzle. I need to know the answer. :lol:

    "Please take up my homework?"

    Yes, that's the term I also recall. I knew it was "take <something>" and "take up" kept coming to mind. It must be the one!

    Now,I don't have to look up childhood friends on FB and ask them the question : )
