I recently read about the Aadhar unique identification number project that has taken off in India. What is it all about? has anyone of you applied for it? Is it like the PAN number? I read it collects your biometrics including iris picture. Is it a safe thin to get, I mean isn't it like recording very personal identity of an individual?
Hi Nithya001, Aadhar or Unique Identity (UID) is a central government project that plans to provide a single number for all identity verfication purposes, something in the lines of a social security number in US. Yes, it collects biometrics information, I got in done myself, but then, I feel, if you have nothing to hide, why fear such things, right?
