what do kids do afterschool ?

We are planning to move to Uk shortly with kids as well im planning to work their and im curious to know what do kids do if i join them in afterschool care?
since school is upto 3:30/4, after that what do they do at school? will they play or they are allowed for swimming/painting/music classes?
How much do we need to pay for that? is it hourly basis we pay?

do you teach your kids after returning from work? usually we return from work at 6..if so after comming we will be busy with cooking and preparing for the nextday..when will you find time to teach your kid? is it on weekends?
