My latest reads have been The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and One Amazing Thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Both books made interesting reading.

Lost Symbol has good number of interesting fact about Freemason, etc but I think Dan Brown could have without violence though the killings mentioned in this book are far less violent than the ones in Angels and Demons.

Loved One Amazing Thing - Chitra Divakaruni's earlier book that I read was Arranged Marriage and other short stories which I found monotonous since they were all Bengali characters. However, one amazing thing was refreshing that the characters were a good mix with their impending India trip. Makes a good read.

Sindhu thanks for reminding me about "One Amazing Thing". I read half the book a few months back before I had to return it to the library. After your short summary, I want to finish the book now. Will definitely pick it up on my next trip to the library.

A correction I would like to make about Chitra Divakaruni's Arranged Marriage - I didn't quite enjoy the book since most of the stories were sort of monotonously depressing.

I have started to read Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth. And so far, I have liked each of her short story. Jhumpa also has Bengali characters in every story, so I have realised it is not the characters but the direction in which the stories were headed as far as 'Arranged Marriage...' is concerned.

    Aparnanc:

I think you will like the other half of the book. Just when I thought the book was getting nowhere, Chitra D. made it interesting enough for me to finish the book:)!

Sindhu - You were spot on in your assessment. The book just seemed to drag and take too long to start with the interesting part. Will definitely give it another shot.
Most of the stories in Unaccustomed Earth are good. Definitely a good read.

    vidyajithesh - I just got Shopaholic & Sister :)
