    sauteed roots with apple

i dunno whether mama got bored or baby got bored this time.but i thought of giing her a different dinner tonight. last 2 wks poor girl been having thick veggie soup with easum/rice...

    and hence
    sauteed roots with apple

    heres wat i did

    2 baby carrots
    1 small sweet potato
    1 white potato
    small piece of pumpkin
    1 apple

peel and dice all of these.

in pressure pan, take 1 tbsp butter(now i always have unsalted butter for baking in stock)but u can use regular butter too.
melt butter, saute all of the above, apple in the end.
    add enough water

    pressure cook 5-6 whistles.

mash it extremely well with potato masher....i kept mashing for long.she doesnt like texture too much.

    give one feed,freeze rest.

    this yielded me 4 feeds.

Ramya,I stopped blending LOs food around 8months. About jeera, have you tried using the jeera powder or crush it little. Your LO is very cute.

    Poonam...Zoey is sooooo adorable:kiss.

Vidyaa, apart frm wht Poonam suggested, you can try khichdi with daalia + veggies (tried and tested) and then move on to daalia n dates porridge.

    Hi ILadies,

    I invented :)-)) a new food for my baby's requirements. :)

    Jaggery Dal with rice.

    Recipe:
fry dal in a kadai without oil or anything. Cool it and pressure cook it as normal dal is done. After 4-5 whistles take out and mash the dal. Then add grated jaggery in that and mix well. This will be like soild. You can add some water and make it like a paste and mix with rice paste and feed to LO. My LO liked this very much. :)

    Deepchiran.

    Mommas,

Great thread and great ideas :)
I was scratching my head hard for my DS, coz he hated all the below combos.
Rice cereal + veggie, sprouted ragi powder + veggie, oats with veg or fruits, sprouted wheat powder + veg or fruit, all combos were rejected then and there. Infact he started scolding - wahhhh wahhhhhhhh when he gets to taste something he hates!! He loves only EASUM EASUM EASUM! Nothing else.
Finally i figured out he is a moong dal boy!!!!!!!
So here goes his lunch receipe:
    Moong dhal 2spoons + rice + veggies
I alternate by adding white oats / sprouted wheat powder / sprouted ragi powder / wheat rava / dates / fruit purees
He loves all combos now, offcourse with Moong dhal!!! Nights he takes easum + veg/fruit purees, thats for convenience.

Morning, he takes idli or rice+lil moong dhal porridge or fruit/veg purees.

He is grabbing every single snack that DD eats - bread/ biscuits/cereals - everything he tries to taste. He rejoices whenever DD sits with her plate/bowl, crawls sooo happily to her and grabs :))))))))))

    Hi girls

Do we have a small masher available? THe potato masher that I have is too big for mashing 3-4oz of food.
