UCLA Medical Center brain surgery live tweeted

Brain surgery patient plays guitar during Operation | UCLA Brain Surgery Patient Brad Carter - YouTube

Ever seen anyone play a guitar while undergoing brain surgery? Now's your chance. This video, while perhaps not for the seriously squeamish, is actually not as gross as it sounds. It shows strung-together video chunks live-tweeted by the UCLA Medical Center of its 500th deep-brain stimulation operation. In it, actor and musician Brad Carter plays an original tune while doctors implant electrodes in his brain to quiet the tremors he'd been suffering from for years.

    - Musician Brad Carter, 39, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2006
    - Hand tremors caused by condition meant he lost ability to play the guitar
    - Doctors live-tweeted implanting a pacemaker in his brain to treat condition
    - Mr Carter was awakened during surgery to assist with electrode placement
    - He can be seen playing guitar and singing along in the middle of operation
