Whatsapp forwards are like the parlor game rumor with a twist, the message is never changed ....... however, each person who forwards a "Mother's Day Card" confesses to the level of their sense of irony that may be anywhere from zero to sixty in the few seconds they take to forward click that to their group. Here is a video clip from a movie classic where a dying woman gets up and cooks fried rice on husband's order: Tampopo - Husband forces dying wife to cook
A poem that came out for an International Women's Day: These subliminal messages about how to be a woman Here are the first few lines : How can I be good? What is it that’s proper? Making sure to make all my silver hairs copper? To shave and to wax and to dye and to groom And not be the loudest person in a room. I was that good girl that could have been better That B student, but not A to give it a letter. ................... [check link for the remainder.]
True forget about regular days, women should be given a break once in a while like at least when they are sick. Few of them believe as if women has take care of Family even when are not feeling well. We may not always take it in a negative way but yeah glorifying things like sacrificing, working 24/7 for others without any self care has to be stopped. At least helping at time of need and certain circumstances should be encouraged.
Now I remember, some of the Indian ads on television also glorified this kind of acts. Hope the present ads have changed for the better.
In past generations, print and radio ad's would be blatantly overt in labelling women as non-decision making utilities. In modern times, the ad's would have a subliminal mixed message, that appeals to different segments. Take a look at the following, for example: For the dull, who can only take in the literal message, this is about jewellery For the imaginative woman, this is about the choices she'd have to make in her life after she marries well; and jewellery may (not!) be one of them. The photoshop'ed mother making roti/dosa/whatever in the post#1 is such a clever thing to convey a message. Modern TV ad's do the same.
Mothers do it out if love but others dont respect, everybody just praises her so that she wont come off the hook. If she does, no one is ready to get on the hook!, its an unpaid, ungreatful, looked down,24/7/365 and lonely job! People praise mothers so that they dont have to be one.
