To American Citizens.."is Jury Duty Scary?"

Jury duty is not scary, it just takes a lot of your personal time.

Some jury lasts 2 to 3 days.

Grand Jury lasts 2 to 4 weeks.

Take plenty of reading material. I'm not sure if metal detectors will allow knitting needles.

 

It can be a time suck, but its no big deal otherwise. i managed to escape being selected both times I was called up.

 

I was assigned Jury duty last winter. I asked them to postpone it. They sent me a later date which was after a month or so. I was all set to go but the court was closed that day due to heavy snowfall. That's it, after that till now, its almost a 10 months I haven't heard from them. Some say it is interesting, some take a nap through.
But haven't heard anyone saying it is scary. And, why should it be scary??

 

Cops drink coffee like the rest of us. They are human beings.

Please don't fall asleep during a trial ... You will get yelled at.

 

I have been a citizen for 9+ years and I haven't gotten single jury duty yet.My husband got called couple of times but each time the case is got cancelled or something happened and he came home after lunch time.
So don't think about it much.

 

It varies by state. For instance, in California, you can be called once a year.
