    Every thing is fine ,going to foreign is by air.okay what about weight calculation?you can carry two suitcases each of

    35kg long back .Whats now?CHECK IT UP,then add things.one or two winter clothing ,sweatshirts etc also add heavy weight.

    Now its 22kgs in Lufthansa.....dont know about other airlines. And also only 2 check-in baggages per person and carry baggage should be not more than 18kgs

    Hi Murphybaby,

    Totally agree with your point...:thumbsup...We can wear a sweater and carry a jacket with us in hand, and then, if the weight and space permits can get one or two more.....what say...:)

    Yes packing of food items is very very important.now a days vacum packing is done almost all market places.In chennai near mylapore station,an in Bombay i heard in Chembur Grand sweets too sell sealed bottels of Pulikkachal with oil,tomato thokku,Again repacked it with paper and with vaccumpack.

    Similarly do notcarry ur sicsors, nailcutters any other sharp items in hand luggage.put them in ziplock cover,have them in ur suitcase.
    In hand laggage also have transparent pouches or purses to carry tabs ,toiletset etc.sothat ur check in willbe
    simple for u as well as theairport authorities.
    BETTER NOT TO LOCK SUITCASES>OR BUY INTERNATIONAL LOCKS--airport authority has cods to open .no need for key for them(if they have doubt only they open)

    One more thing
    to identify ur luggage tags ARENOT ENOUGH.

    Have some colour ribben or srip of Bright cloth of your choise,tie them on handle of your luggages.

    Will be very useful and easy to collect your luggages after landing.

    Exactly Sravani,

    In our last trip,myself,DH and DS travelled together and we managed to bring quite a good number of silk sarees,jackets and little amount of masalas,and food items, and some puja items too., along with a small pressure cooker,mixie, We did not even reach the permitted limit.

    So, it depends on being careful to choose items and packing compactly and weighing at home( had to repack at home and leave back some items though):thumbsup

    total 22 kg of 2 suitcases or each 22 kg ?hand lauggage weight?Now a days backbag with laptop is an addition?

    22kg lufthansa i too heard.

    Truly Said Bhargavi...we had a bitter experience last year when we are returning back to india after fininshing my husbands short term assignment...we are forced to remove many trousers/shirts/toys/books.....OMG...again while coming here we planned well with "Necessaties" in suitcases....huh!!! after a yr stay here....i am afraid to Move back and forth:hide:....and wasting the stuff :bonk:bonk
