Great thread!

I'll keep myself busy with hobbies and other interests and allow my Son space to become a good Husband and Father.

I'll be courteous to my Daughter-in-law for being a great Wife to my Son, and a great Mother to my Grandchildren

 

I will never do the mistakes which my ex MIL did.. would ask my son and DIL to live like a nuclear family.. I would give them space.

 

Good to visualise...but i feel instead of visualising ourselves as an aged MIL, it would be better, if we can record this discussion on this forum as a personal possession in our diaries and after years, when we become a real MIL, read this again and get back to our old real years as DIL and recollect what were our met and unmet aspirations, wishes, problems, complaints, both good and bad and ensure that the new DIL who comes to our house goes through on the good and not the bads of our lives.
