She later migrated to France and won two Nobel Prizes for her work on radioactivity 1872 The Marie Celeste sailed from New York only to be found mysteriously abandoned some days later. There was no sign of the crew but all the ship's provisions were found undisturbed. 1888 The second Indian Nobel laureate, C V Raman was born.
