    The softness will be afected. Some add 1 cup of cooked rice to 1 cup of raw rice + 1 tbsp coconut,grind & ferment.But I have not tried.

    Dear Chitra

    I tried the above recipe exactly the way you described and came out amazingly crispy. I had to use chana dal as that was only in stock with me. I am also attaching the photos.

    My husband praised so much and now you are also a member in our home when I try your dishes. We dont usually use much masala and I am feeling quite comfortable the way you describe. There is variety and dont know what to pick and choose.

    Dear Chithra,
    I made idlies with broken boild rice. It came out so soft & tasty. Hubby said it is like the hotel idlies which he loves!!!
    Can I use broken raw rice to make idlies?

    Dear Chitra maami,

    Can you give me the recipe of 'hotel sambhar' taken along with rice.
    It takes yummy. I have tried several times many versions but still my sambhar tastes different from tamilian sambhar.Pls reply.

    Manju, for Varalakshmi nombu, Vinayakar chathurthi etc alone,I use raw rice, but grinding method only (3 cups raw rice instead of 4 cups boiled rice0). I am not very sure if that broken raw ric will give equally good results.

    Dear Chithra,
    I plan to try some savories this week. I have the silliest of doubts, being such a novice in this section. Can the whole urad be used or broken one should be used for savories? Does it make any difference?
