No, early 40's is not very late, many people are now having kids very late by choice and it's not a big deal. Ivf with pgd will rule out any chromosome abnormality. It is not necessary that after 40 your baby would have some problems. Many mothers in their 20's are also having kids with problems, so there is no surety on anything.
