:hello: They study India. They live India. They work India :hello:

Degrees are obtained under duress in some places. Even foreign degrees obtainable in India. Fake universities aplenty.

Acquisition of Degrees in some quarters is only for purpose of marriage.
Many take up jobs whatever is available that has nothing to do with their field of specialisation. Chemical or chemistry graduates working in bank, commerce graduate operating lathe in workshop. National talents thus either wasted or under utilised.

Numerous graduates among women leave their career or remain at home for various reasons. Their talents and potentials not put into use. Literacy gone up. But many unemployed. There is terrible miss match between job creation and the educated young ones wanting placements.

The man trimming & dressing hair of customer in below image is married to his class mate. Both are post graduates in management.

They do not want to leave their village nor their parents and siblings. They enjoy doing independent business. They run saloon & beauty parlour which are equipped not with Tv but with wonderful books and biographies in English And few regional languages.

Customers wait in queue are if seen reading a book from saloon’ s library are given rebate or some discount on the service rendered. Children too find cartoons for free read. They have arrangement for proper disposal of Waste hair generated in their business & is regularly collected for recycling.

His lady in adjacent building interconnected runs her parlour!

They study India. They live India. They work India.

    Here is the MIT emblem.

You can see the guy on the left with a hammer and anvil, and the guy on the right is reading a big book. Looks like if the book-learning doesn't work out, there is a plan B. Take up some tool and do a trade. Mens et Manus means Mind & Hands.

whether it is MIT in India or elsewhere, it is the same thing. Nothing wrong for a mechanical engineer or a chemist to work in a financial institution. The hair-salon management graduates are doing what would be the optimal for their goals, mindsets, and preferences. Getting hungup on diplomas and college training is irrelevant in value/wealth creation through work.

P.S. Why does the thinking man need a foot stool (in that MIT emblem)?

The stool is stepping stone for a career. Or it could be for de-numbing his leg on account of standing for long!
All accomplishments within academic campus has no relevance to many job markets. Many b tech and m tech are finally landing with mutual funds in India. Few MBAs from prestigious institutes turn entrepreneurs get Padmasri and then their biz goes bankrupt.

Core classes in engineering disciplines teach a lot of things that are directly applicable in Finance. Mass transfer, fluid flow formulas apply to the principles of Finance and money movements. The concepts of velocity and viscosity are very much about money. Here is a link to the use of the principles of fluid mechanics to the stockmarket:
An excerpt: The purpose of this article is to show that the dynamism of the stock market behavior can be explained qualitatively and quantitatively by considering the supply & demand collision as the result of Financial agents’ physical properties defined by Stokes Law
In reading that "Financial agents' physical properties" in the abstract of the article I RFLOL. Short, tall, skinny, fat BTech graduate in a mutual fund?

That aside, the scientific method helps in the execution of any job/work. As for who gets to work in Mutual Funds, I think resources get allocated where they are most wanted.
Do you think there are enough heads in India to accommodate all MBA's who would open barber shops? MBA's who start enterprises have to fail, and go bankrupt. That is how we get the data on the huge numbers of failures of new enterprises. For them it should be like a mid-term exam, where they got a failing grade. Those who fail while using someone else's money would be going up the learning curve.
