Practice helps with making chapathis...I make them every day...I do not use oil at all. They come out well. Just practice!

Good Tips, Kishoremommy. Even i am fed up of making the hard chapathis. I tried with hot water also, as some people suggested. But still chapathis are hard. Let me try your tips and will let you know...Thanks

    nice tips kishoremommy
reminds me how my mil took notes while i kneaded atta flour. and made rotis. she would ask how many cups of atta , how many cups of water:spin how many minutes to knead it!!
and then how to make roti , how long to heat and cook it:spin
and that too when i was not considered a expert roti maker in my home ! but somehow i can make more round and soft chapati than mil!!

after reading your post i was thinking if chapati making is so difficult really. :hide: Actually i am a north indian, so just opposite to you i can make nice soft rotis but struggles with idli and dosa :rotfl

I never add oil to flour while kneading or while rolling. Just in the end, i put some ghee ( i.e. after removing the roti from tawa). I know each type pf cuisine is easy and difficult in their own sense. But dont worry dear, soon you will be able to make round, fluffy and soft chapati. :thumbsup

Come on.there are only few items I can make.DH and elder son are chapathi lovers.

Whenever I ask Kishore,"How many chapatis do you want?",his immediate reply would be"Hundred.".

No other way.I had to make them .Expert!!!that's a big word.
