SHRI KAAL BHAIRAV TEMPLE

Shri Kaal Bhairav Temple is situated in the holy city of Ujjain, in the heart of India (State of Madhya Pradesh). The deity (Kaal Bhairav) is a form of Lord Shiva.The temple is situated on the banks of river Kshipra.The temple is believed to have been built by the Maratha King Bhadrasen.
Devotees throng the temple 365 days of the year with bottles of liquor to offer to the deity. Liquor is poured into the mouth of the diety .It is also offered as Prasad to devotees. Kaal Bhairav is also known as the protector of travelers . Usually travelers lit a lamp and make a garland of cashew nuts and offer it to the Lord so as to protect themselves from any danger while travelling. This is especially done by people who travel at night. It is also believed auspicious to feed dogs as dog is believed to be the vehicle of Lord Bhairav.

 

There is a unique temple known as Nilakant Mahadev Temple in Gujarat which goes under arabian sea during high tide, only during low tide we can view temple


There is a sangameswar Temple which goes under Krishna river when the water level rises....Only during low level of water in krishna river we can see temple,
