In this thread, I would like you all to come up with the information and details about these destinations so that we are more aware of beautiful destinations and relaxing weekend getaways near us.

Hi,

[FONT=&quot]Talbehat is a small town situated near JHANSI in district Lalitpur-UP (India). Talbehat fort was built in 1618 by Bharat Shah. When Rani Laxmibai was struggling against Britishers, it was under the territory of Maharaja Mardan Singh. This fort is situated at the bank of a big lake. Talbehat town is as big as this lake. Britishers went to Jhansi after destroying a wall of this fort. This is very cool and calm place. There is a famous Narsingh Mandir is also situated inside the fort. This fort has two main gates.[/FONT][FONT=&quot][/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]You can reach here by a train (Train no.1058) directly from New Delhi Railway Station. This train departs from New Delhi at 8.50 PM everyday and reaches at Talbehat Railway Station at 6 AM next day. TBT is the station code that can be used for reservation. [/FONT][FONT=&quot][/FONT]

This is a very beautiful fort and you'll love to see the the beauty from the fort....It's a very good weekend getaway.

[FONT=&quot]Sar Pass in Himachal Pradesh[/FONT][FONT=&quot] at 13,800 ft,[/FONT] a virgin territory that has places for trekking, where one can yearn and then learn. Being an 80 km trail it passes through various ranges and sanctuaries. Moving along the winding mountain path one can observe the landscape changing at every turn.
Himachal also has [FONT=&quot]The Chanderkhani Pass[/FONT] situated in the picturesque Shivalik Range called 'Devbhoomi'-Land of the Gods. Being a 110 km stretch the pass has long and beautiful stretches of pure white snow and as there is an increase in altitude, topography goes on changing. There are different kinds of shrubs, blossoming with a variety of flowers and the trail is laden with the fragrance of wild roses and rhododendrons.

[FONT=&quot]It is situated on the Gopeshwar-Ukhimath Road about 40 kms. from Gopeshwar is at an altitude of about 2,900 m above sea level.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]It is one of the most picturesque spots in the entire Garhwal region providing a breathtaking view of the Himalayan ranges and the surrounding areas. Ithas a variety of flora and fauna like orchids, rhododendrons and other high-altitude vegetation. [/FONT]

Two places which I can think of are Kausani in Uttaranchal and Darbar Sahib in Amritsar.

Kausani: It is located 53 km north of Almora in Uttaranchal. Around 14 hr journey from Delhi by road. A 300km wide curves across the Himalayas from Kausani, a breathtakingly beautiful hill station in the Kumaon Hills. Your eye sweeps past dense forests and glowing hills lit up by the setting sun and the panorama unfolds over the snow-covered peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul.
Summer is the best time to be in Kausani with temperatures ranging between 11°C and 26°C.

[FONT=&quot]Harmandir Sahib[/FONT] or [FONT=&quot]Darbar Sahib, informally referred to as The [FONT=&quot]Golden Temple[/FONT] or [FONT=&quot]Temple of God[/FONT], is culturally the most significant place of worship of the Sikhs and one of the oldest Sikh gurdwaras. It is located in the city of Amritsar, which was established by Guru Ram Das, the fourth guru of the Sikhs and the city that it was built in, is also due to the shrine, known as "Guru Di Nagri" meaning city of the Sikh Guru.[/FONT]

We happen to visit this small hill station on our travel to Pithoragarh.

 [FONT=&quot]Munsyari: It is 125 kms from Pithoragarh lying in eastern Uttaranchal. The whole journey is full of adventure. Flora and fauna changes as one travels. We happen to stop at Nachani(a midway village), the people were so helpful and they greeted us with delicious food, cold and hot drinks providing tents for stay and enjoying water spoils, angling, river rafting or simply have a cool- cool dip in the Namic glacier originated Ramganga from Nachani. [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]You will also find Sulphur springs and the majestic Virthi fall, which falls from the height of 125 mt. Now as the road aligns the higher mountains, the air becomes cooler reaching the top.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Munsiyari is a must watch destination esp during March to April, when the whole jungle turns red flowers. You’ll find number of mountain birds residing here. Animals like leopard, panther, mountain bear and the musk deer can be found in the Munsiyari jungles.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Some good places for visit:[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Thamari Kund :[/FONT][FONT=&quot] A picturesque natural lake surrounded by paper trees and a natural habitat of Musk Deer.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Madkot: This area has [/FONT][FONT=&quot]hot water springs which are believed to cure rheumatism, arthritic pains, skin eruptions etc. [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Nanda Devi Temple:[/FONT][FONT=&quot] A refreshing trek of 3 kms to the temple from Munsiyari.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Birthi Falls:[/FONT][FONT=&quot] They are spectacular and a must watch. Wayside amenities and fast food centre is available.[/FONT]

 [FONT=&quot]It is located on the Mussoorie-Chamba track and is a launching point for numerous treks into the snow-capped Himalayas, especially to the Tehri region of Garhwal. Dhanaulti works like a balm for weary souls in search of peace and quiet. Caressed by a bracing mountain zephyr, this hill station is just ideal for long walks up shady slopes or quiet tête-à-têtes in grassy meadows. [/FONT]
