The College Days- Part 12 B

Akshay walked towards Ashika who was engrossed with her cell phone, she seemed to be in her own world.

"Hey Ashika!!" said Akshay in excitement!

Akshay seemed to shake Ashika awake from her dream land. Akshay's voice made Ashika take her eyes off the cell phone screen.

"Ohh.. hi", said Ashika in a low tone. Akshay had already taken a seat opposite hers.

Her tone seemed like she was least interested to speak, Akshay wasn't sure if he had made the right choice by taking a seat without her permission.

He anticipated everything to be fine and asked "Didn't see you around yesterday, were you absent?" Akshay tried not to reveal that he was in search of her and was concerned.

"Yeah, I was absent" said Ashika.

Akshay was keen to know the reason but hesitated to ask.

Ashika finally put away her cell phone which distracted their convocation and said, "Some of my friends from my previous college had come home unexpectedly yesterday wouldn't mind missing a day of college for them."

"They are known for the pleasant surprises!", added Ashika with happiness.

The happiness was missing when she said" I miss them, I miss the fun and my previous college." She bends down her head facing the table with a frown.

"Hey! You can have fun here too", said Akshay trying to cheer Ashika.

"No, I'm just not myself in this place, I feel I don't belong here." said Ashika disagreeing with Akshay.

"Ashika, listen said Akshay in a profound tone."

"If you want to create a life you want live, you need to put in some effort. There is no point in cribbing about this place, the college.
This college has everything what your previous college had- friends, the fun but it's just that you aren't willing to look at it in a positive manner.

The friends at your previous college have accepted the fact that you aren't with them anymore, they have moved on and living their life while you keep being nostalgic and upset for no good reason."

"Trust me, once your attitude changes everything will fall in its place."

Akshay was proud of the advice given and thought to himself- listening to dad's lectures has paid off somewhere.

The College Days...Part 13 A


Ashika kept nodding her head in response to Akshay's advice. Akshay wasn't sure if she agreed or disagreed to the advice. Anyhow, Akshay was satisfied with his attempt.

Akshay got up from his seat in order to attend the class and said "I need to have attendance for this subject, have missed a lot of lectures."

He took a few steps and looked back at Ashika and asked "Are you going to be here the whole day?" in a sarcastic tone.

Ashika got up and followed Akshay with a childlike obedience. Akshay kept in his head high and walked to the classroom and didn't bother to turn back.

Once Akshay reached the class, he kept himself busy by chit-chatting with his gang.

Akshay didn't make any attempt to talk to Ashika during the break, nor gave her a chance to.

Akshay said bye to his friends and left his camp once all the lectures for the day was over.

Once Akshay opened the gate to his house and he noticed a maruti swift in the compound, which signalled there were some visitors home. Akshay couldn't remember his mom informing him about any guests coming home that evening.

"Who could it be?" He thought to himself and took a look at the foot wears left out the entrance for clues.

Akshay was clueless and got hold on the door knob to find the answer himself.
