Tests performed during pregnancy in India

A good book to read is fetal attraction by Dr Duru Shah and Dr Safala Shah. It is pretty much what most Obs follow here.

 

Dear ILites

I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby and based out of Pune.

Both sets of parents are based in diff parts of Mumbai.My DH has taken up a job offer in.Bangalore and he has to join in Jan. I am now confused between planning for my relocation and further gynaec tests etc; ie whether to do in Mom's place or go with Dh.

Can someone suggest a list of week wise test protocols that are part of standart testing in India for pregnancy.I.e what next to expect

This will help us to plan my travel and other logistics

I have just compeleted my 17th Week... my doc dint prescribed very many test.. well she is the best where i live with a rate of 99.9% normal dilivery...

after the completion on my first trimister she had adviced of a Ultrasound. now in the 20th Week, i have to go for blood test & urine test and a detailed Targeted Ultrasound... rest all she said is gud and not to expose the kido to too much ultrasound... hope this info helps...

 

This is what I have gone through so far:

1st Trimester
1. Atleast one ultrasound for dating- this is to verify what is your likely due date
2. Blood panel: Sugar, 3 Hs (HCV, HIV, Hep) TSH (Only if you have a thyroid condition), CBC, Vit D (My doctor likes to do this), HCG, Progesterone (if they suspect that you may have some hormonal problem) and VDRL for STDs
3. NT Scan between 11 and 14 weeks
4. Markers for the First trimester screening (Free Beta HCG and PAPPA)
5. TORCH test
* I have had 2-3 more ultraounds but that is more due to my history- not sure if they are prescribed for everyone.

2nd Trimester
1. Anomaly Scan between 18 and 20 weeks
2. She has also recommended that I get my TT shot when I meet her next.

SSM: I am due in June/July 2013. I dont think I am allowed to have a signature as yet so will add the ticker as soon as IL allows me
