Is there anything else your sister is passionate about? Might be worth exploring other options, as i feel private school teaching jobs are more demanding and the expectations are more, whereas government school teaching jobs are hard to get, as requires one to clear exams and then may get posted anywhere there is vacancy.

Don't give up yet. You may still receive better inputs.
Some may have some remarks which may not go well with you or your posts. Ignore royally and wait for better inputs.

What about giving tuitions from home to the kids at neighborhood? May not be taxing as a full time teacher job.

Amulet, if the op has a sister with a chronic back pain shouldn't be your concern like you are Nonya (who posted a vulger comment long back) or not shouldn't be our concern.

The question here is OP needs a suggestion for a less taxing job for someone and if you have that you can tell her.

Teaching needs lot of energy .If your sister is interested she can do online teaching.Or Kumon centers employ people for couple of hours. If she has tech background she can teach in computer centers like NIIT.
Schools have high energy ,fast pace environment.Msy not be easy if one has underlying issues.

    OP,
@Amulet comes across as sarcastic, but her answers have great insight. I have found that she gives very realistic advice, without sugar coating it. Sugar coating can lead to beat around bush syndrome, without getting to point. I have seen great real life wisdom, in her posts, though I might be offended myself, if I am OP. Look beyond the words.

Is it possible for your sister to take care of her health first? Try changing diet. I have heard, vegan/whole food/VitD/Keto are good for inflammation. . But each person is different. Please go to ayurvedic doctor. Chronic conditions can be treated better by ayurvedic.

I am sorry, I do not offend you.

Your question about teaching job- long term for your sister is a valid one.
I would suggest elementary level-2nd , 3rd grade level- is the sweet spot for her. Any lower grade, she will have to get down on her knees, get down on floor, etc. Any higher grades- kids start towards puberty and are hard to handle. High schoolers have camera even in bathrooms (so I heard) in Indian schools, to control them. It is very hard to control kids due to generation gap, and their high energy. There is lot of walking in schools, it is physically active job. A lot of stairs. Several times a day. Most schools do not have elevators. Private schools work you like anything and government ones are very hard to get into.

She can try 2nd, 3rd grade in government or private school that is near by. And ask for accommodations from very early one- e.g. ask for her classroom to be at ground level. No extra activities for her- like sports day etc.

Your sister is in tough spot with bad marriage, bad health and looking for a career change. I commend you that you are helping her and asking for her. I hope she is able to find good solutions.

I am hoping you also consider government clerical level job. It may sound bad, but government jobs are the best. She can take VRS if health is really bad, and she might get paid for remaining term of her employment.

Any job will be hard to do long term with failing health. So, she has to take care of health- I am suggesting ayurvedic medicine, please check.

There are many things she loved earlier but doesn’t have time for now...like coding, blogging, pure science, physics, English poetry and fiction writing, art and craft etc....transferable jobs are not feasible as she can’t relocate..yes pvt school jobs are demanding I agree that’s why we wanted to set expectations straight.

Thanks dear for the detailed and kind reply...we have consulted good specialists and also exploring alternative medicine therapies...issue is less with back, more with feet..climbing stairs maybe problematic...cant expect her to energetically run around...I have full confidence in the treatments taken..I already saw a couple of posts in the health section regarding inflammatory issues and many good suggestions were there.

If your sister is in IT and actually loves to code, she should probably look for some work from home projects. With her experience, she should be able to find something. I saw some inputs from @Caughtinbetween for sites like upwork where you can work on projects online. Someone told me she once got scammed on upwork - did the work but the hirer flagged her and didn’t pay her but I’ve mostly heard good reviews.
I tried teaching to code but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Getting a few certs while she looks for something online is a good starting point.
