Suggest formal wear for a cruise

Is it carribean or pacific cruise or new year even cruise? Depends on what level of formal dress cruise demands
Usually I have seen people dressed in all kinds in all cruises since there is no restraint by cruise lines.
In carribean types cruises, people are mostly casual even for evening cruise..ladies in summer dresses.

If its new yr evening cruise, you can think of wearing evening dress. I would not wear anything too blingy unless I have bigger group and I know what everyone is wearing ;-)

Other options are
- dark fancier sweater dress or long tunic with leggings
- fancy top with leggings
- something velvety to make it weater appropriate
- for formal and safe black, red, eggplant are my fav colors but silver/gold (dull tones) are also good.
