    Stuffed mirchi pakoras

    8 large green chillies
    1½ cups gram flour
    Salt to taste
    ¼ tsp turmeric powder
    3 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp oil + to deep fry
    1 medium-sized onion (finely chopped)
10-12 medium-sized fresh button mushrooms (chopped)
    1 tsp cumin powder
    ¼ cup bread crumbs
    ½ cup processed cheese (grated)

Wash and slit green chillies carefully only on one side, remove seeds and keep aside. Take gram flour in a bowl and add salt to taste, turmeric powder and one teaspoon of red chilli powder. Add sufficient water to gram flour to form a batter of coating consistency.

Heat one teaspoon of oil in a pan on medium heat, add onion and cook, stirring continuously, till onion turns light golden brown. Add mushrooms and cook for another two to three minutes, stirring frequently.

Add cumin powder, remaining red chilli powder and salt. Mix well. Remove from heat and cool. Add breadcrumbs and grated cheese to the mixture.

Stuff green chillies with this mixture. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Dip stuffed chillies in batter and deep fry on medium heat till golden brown. Drain and remove onto an absorbent paper. Serve
