DH & I just returned from the memorial service for our dear friend. He had passed away last week. I admit it was overwhelming for me to stand there and view our friend for one last time...is this it...is this the end of a life.

I asked myself they say "soul lives on forever"...does it really?

He left behind a wife and a 2 year old daughter...2 years she doesn't even know the great loss she has, because for one year he was battling with Colon Cancer and had been in and out of hospital. She doesn't seem to miss him...now. Why would this happen to one of the most wonderful human being. He was so full of life, having a great sense of humor, very mischievous always thinking of playing pranks but always putting a laugh or two on our face.

43 is no age to die...to leave this world behind. How can anyone deal with this great loss? His mom said to me "What's the use of my living, when my son has died before me"....what does one say to that. His wife, my friend, just clutched at me and broke down. I bawled my eyes out today at the memorial service recollecting all the memories we all shared together, he and his DW and me and DH had some good fun times. My DH felt the loss more than me as he works with our friend at the same office.

The pastor who was performing the memorial service said there is here no end of life...no end as the soul lives on forever and he is in a better place with God. But really are these words just to satisfy us or is it real? I think that depends on what you believe in. They say sight, sound, touch is what makes a person feel alive. No there is no sight of him, no sound of his voice and we can't touch him anymore...so how can he live on forever. Give it few weeks, few months or few years...will I remember him or will it be like out of sight out of mind.

I really don't know if "souls live on forever" ...maybe I will never know. But I tell this to pacify myself and come to terms with the loss of my dear friend.

Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Really sad to hear about the loss. Rest in peace.

I've lost couple of good family members to cancer, so I know the pain.

    Jaya,
Very sad to hear the loss of your friend's DH.
    Heartfelt condolences to your friend..

Souls live on forever..but in another form, which we can't even recognise.
Let us have happy memories of that soul, this time on the earth, which we had recognised.

    Dearest Jay,

Actually I wanted to ask you how is your friend who was suffering from cancer and now am pained to see that he is no more. So sad he leaves behind his wife and 2 yr old daughter. She may not even understand that her dad is no more.

How is his wife going to manage now? Anyway she has to gear up spirits and live for the sake of the darling daughter.

Please share the condolence of all ILites here with the family Jay.

    Dear Jaya,
Felt so sad for your friend who met this tragedy.
When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why he left this earth so soon, or why he left before they were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, you all begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived. And that his life gave you the memories too beautiful to forget.Let God give mental strength and courage to his wife to face the world.
    with love

    hi jaya!

very sorry to hear that your friend has left the world! but i don't think so it is!
he must be surely around you people!
i go with the pasteur's words yes am only the human body hcan disappear and not his soul!
most may not agree this even you also but this is from my own experience!
there won't be anyone as me who cried on the death of my own dear friend arun! he was just close to me to that extent! i was not in my consious for few weeks even! he always use to speak with me at night so after his death i use to relax myself in someother work! but once when i was sitting at my balcony at the time he speaks i felt him aside (i felt his presence there)! i usually dont believe in this all i was even suprised of my feel!

it may be my imagination but what i felt is that real according to me right! we people don't know yet whether a soul survives around! incase it may be true! that cases why do we want them to hurt by our feelings thinking and worrying about his death! just try to be happy and he might feel his happiness in yours!
