Verse 26 - Meaning: Q: What (kim)deserves pity? (socyam) A: A miserly nature (kaarpanyam) that merely accumulates wealth but never uses it for one's own enjoyment or for giving it to others. Q: What is praiseworthy in one blessed with abundance ? (sati vibhave kim) A: The quality of generosity.(prasastam audaryam) Q: Who deserves the respect (kah pujyo) of even the learned ? (vidvadbhih) A: That one who is by nature (svabhaavatah) endowed with humility at all times.(sarvadaa viniito yah) Verse 27 - Meaning: Q: What (kah) enhances the fame of a family (kula), just as the sun makes a lotus bloom and reveal its beauty and perfume ? (kamala dinesah) A: The presence of one in the family who, though endowed with great merits,(sati guna vibhave api) is yet free from self-conceit.(yo namrah) Q: Who is able to win over to his side (kasya vase) the society in which he is living ?(jagad etat) A: That one who speaks only what is true and beneficial (to the society at large) (priya - hita vacanasya) and who is righteous in his conduct. (dharma-niratasya) Verse 28 - Meaning: Q: What (kaa) attracts (manohara) the mind of the learned ? (vidvan) A: Literary compositions without a blemish (sat-kavitaa) and the damsel of masterly intelligence (bodha vanitaa ca) Q: Who (kam) can save himself from calamities ? (na sprsati vipattih) A: That one who follows the advice of wise men (pravrddha vacana) and who exercises control over the senses.(anuvartinam daantam) Verse 29 - Meaning: Q: To whom is the Goddess of prosperity attracted ? (kasmai sprhayati kamalaa) A: To that one who is ever industrious (tvanalasa-cittaaya) and just. (niiti-vrttaaya) Q: Whom (kam) does she desert promptly ? (tyajati-sahasaa) A: That one who is lazy (saalasyam) and shows no regard for Devas, (sura,) Elders (guru,) and Holy men. (dvija - nindaakaram) Verse 30 - Meaning: Q: Which place is the most fitting (kutra vidheyo) for one to stay ? (vaasah) A: The neighbourhood of virtuous men, (saj-jana - nikate - athava) or Kasi the City of Light.(kaasyaam) Q: What (kah) place (desah) should one avoid ? (parihaaryo) A: That one which is abounding in wicked men (pisunayuto) and (ca) ruled by an extorting and greedy ruler .(lubdha-bhuupa)
