This is a tribute to all those moms across the globe, standing behind their sons / daughters in all their endeavours:

“Well ! Just pause for a moment and explore….
If you notice keenly, you would feel an aura of elevated energy vibrating within you. It’s that halo of energy that keeps you, me and everyone else going... despite our travails and turmoils on Planet Earth!!!

What does one call this halo as??
Simply as ‘’MOTHER”, the six letter mantra."

Here in this esteemed blog space, I want to tell my Mother something about her:

    “Amma,
You are the most splendid woman I ever knew...
I have met a lot of people, but I have never met a more thoroughly refined woman than you, ma.
If I have made anything out of my life;-
    it’s all due to you."

Well! I have seen attrocious cases where the son keeps on accumulating money, riches, latest gadgets...but the mother, living in an 'old-age home'! Why don't such people realize that the 'riches of all riches' is indeed their mother....

So if you've got something to say about your mom..please do feel free to share it in the ‘comment-box’.

    You asked.

My father was NOT a strong person for a variety of reasons. (The main reason was that his parents spoiled him, an only child.) A lot of his responsibilities fell on my shoulders, often during the most difficult period in my life. I did it all, if not cheerfully, at least without complaining. Specifically, the "it" being putting most of the male siblings through college and the female siblings married off, and the constant worrying that goes with it. [I have written about all of these before, perhaps ad nauseum.] I told this once to Tom a former boss. He understood the anxiety part of it.

I am happy because I was able to help my mother.

I couldn't sustain this level of effort. As I got older and accumulated my own responsibilities [like my ball and chain and children :)] and the needs back in Chennai stopped being acute (they never stop), I started backing off. My youngest brother (whom I have helped the least) stepped into the vacuum.

The last time I saw my my mother she told me:

    அந்த காலத்துலே நீதான் புள்ளை
    இந்த காலத்துலே அவன்தான் புள்ளை

I remember buying a saree for her in Bangalore when I received the first installment of my scholarship money from IISC. God, you are making me cry, Saras.

100% true Saras... Lovely words on Ma...

Sharing something about my mother:- She is the most courageous woman I met in my lifetime. Her husband children were everything in her world - literally. She don't have parent's / Sibling's love and affection... Or too many friends... Of all my close friends, she is the one I turn to when I feel blue... I love my mom and pray to God that in my next birth I have to be her mom and return the motherly love she showered on me!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful blog with us Saras...

My mother is my favorite punching bag
I love her, but can never express it to her.
    I always fight with her
and share my complaints with Dear Amma
Such is the privilege I cannot have with anyone.
If I dont like cabbage curry, Amma will untiringly slice potato and make chips for me :)
She never lets me pick one thing, and I do not do it either :)

    cheers
    suresh

    sojourner sir,

That was really touching an account.

Even if I've made you cry..I'm happy!!!!

No! I'm not a sadist ...but happy that it would have served you as an outlet.

Is your mom still in Bangalore with your bro?

Let me know about that too.

    > Is your mom still in Bangalore with your bro?

Both my parents have passed away. And all my brothers are in the US. When my mom said,

    இந்த காலத்துலே அவன்தான் புள்ளை

about my brother, she was talking about what he was doing from the US.
