    Lovely

Was glad to see the Deepawali kolam. Others have all said what I wanted to say and I don't think I can get poetic in Tami:) But this kolam design will be repeated at our house front the next Deepawali!

    Dear Kamla....

You are welcome to repeat the kolam - but don't plan to take away my "well trained maid" from me to put kolam for you - ha ha ha !
I am suddenly getting scared !!
    Love & regards,
    Chithra.

    Kolam looks too cute.

Your maid has done such a good job. She has packed all the firecrackers in one simple kolam.

    Love,

Needless tosay, she is thrilled, as & when I tell her about each mail !
    Thanks for your mail.
    Love & regards,

    hi ladies,
kolams are one of my favourite . i used to draw them when i was in india( upto last 2005jan) ,early morning around 6am ,i used to put in the front of the home ..(i lived in an 1st floor of an apartment ) .everyone used to come down thr stairs to look my kolam (plain white rangoli flour and in auspicious days padi kolamparticularly vaishnavaite style ), and they said it enhanced their positive mood . so i got recoginition in the new place, pune ,, after marriage i'mcoming from thanjavu,r. i thought i got the kolams idea from my amma and patti (aged 80), who used to put new designs daily.
i even kept myself a challenge not to repeat the same kolam again. so daily i used to loook for some designs.so creative , it kept me with positive energy.

in paint stores u can get yellow powder (some may call as manjal paint podi /manjal kavi ),and along with chemman ,if u put it in padi kolam it looks great .
u can use a paint brush (got it for 10rs in paint stores)for putting kavi in the floor , no colors in the hand .
in puja room after putting kolam ,take a match stick, use it to draw over the kolam , (just go over the kolam u've put) designs will be great.
if u get sand , mix it with colors , it 'll give u a good rangoli.
    try my ideas ...
    regards
    harini

    Chitra Madam,
I am happy to see ur thread with vivid explanation for our daily
routine in our hindu family houses. The hygenic and philosophical principle
behind this action was explained clearly by u. I mainly go through ur threads
often and note the points to keep with me to explain to some other whenever
there a need arises.I cannot but appreciate ur wisdom
    Love & Regards
