I believe in Variety is the spice of life in everything. In everything we cant change but in eating variety of dishes we can try to make something different everyday. I myself am a foodie and like to make variety of dishes and feel happy when my tells wow, for him patham class means first class.

    For Sambhar

    Avarakkai and Carrot
    Moong dal
    Coconut
    Sambar powder

    For thadka

    Oil
    Rai
    LG powder
    kadi patha

Today I made sambhar with moong dal and sambhar powder. Usually I fry coriander seeds, chana dal, red chillies, methi and grind it with coconut. But today first boiled the vegetables (Avarakkai and Carrot)_ with salt and haldi and added little kadi patha and LGpowder. Boiled Moong dal . Then after the moong dal was cool , grinded with sambhar powder and coconut. When done added to the boiled vegetables and after it was done , gave tadka with rai, kadipatha and lg powder.

Simla mirch and potato with gravy

    Simla Mirch
    Potato
    Onion and tomato
    Ginger and green chilly
    dhania jeera powder
    groundnut
    coconut
    kadi patha
    Coriander leaves
    Til powder
    salt
    haldi

First boiled the vegetables. Then fried Onion, tomato, green chilly, ginger , then after it was cool grinded with dhania jeera powder, til powder, kadi patha, coriander leaves and coconut and after the vegetables were cooked added the gravy to it.

You are right Viji maa....Variety is the spice of life.

And since our diet plays a very vital role in our life, we need a healthy diet intake. And naturally, the best way to consume this is by adding a variety in our menu.

The above recipes seem simple and also look delicious. Am sure Uncle would have relished them. I would love to make moong dal sambhar as I used to eat a lot of it bfore marriage. But here at my in-laws, not everyone is able to accept that sambhar can be made of moong dal as well! But now, your post has made me determined to make it.

    OOOOOOoooohhhhhh! My mouth is watering.

Looks yummy,Vijima! Will try it next time. Its nice to get different taste in the same old dishes! I also prefer using moong or masoor dal.It is lighter and cooks more easily. My pressure cooker is not working properly nowadays, and tur dal takes ages to cook!
